About Mari-Liis
I'm an experienced product designer based in Berlin, and I've been circling around the retail and e-commerce industries for over 8 years. With bachelor's degrees both in product design and psychology, I bring a unique blend of creativity and understanding to my work.
My background allows me to create solutions that make things crystal clear for everyone while achieving business goals and enhancing the design process. Collaboration is my jam — whether it's working with fellow designers or partnering cross-functionally with stakeholders, I thrive in a team environment.
My positive attitude and genuine kindness make me valuable to the business. I empathize and deeply consider different perspectives which allow me to approach customers with respect and understanding that enhances their experience with the product or service. This, in turn, leads to satisfaction, brand loyalty, and sharing a positive attitude, which improves the reputation of the business.
When I'm not tinkering on design projects, you can find me honing my skills in metalsmithing and crafting silver jewelry. I'm also a regular boardgamer but take the time outdoors in nature very seriously, if the weather permits.
So, if you're looking for a talented and friendly product designer who brings a mix of expertise and enthusiasm to the table, I'd love to connect with you.
Background
I was born and brought up in the city of Tallinn, Estonia, but my ever-curious spirit has taken me on quite a journey throughout Europe over the past 10 years. Along the way, I've collected bits of the cultures of Portugal, Britain, and Germany, adding a dash of each to my Estonian roots.
Creating and producing have always been my thing. As a kid, you could often find me surprising my parents with impromptu birdhouses or crafting snake plushies out of old stockings. It's no wonder that professional product design captured my heart during my studies at ESAD Matosinhos in Portugal. I was instantly hooked!
My career has taken me to places like Farfetch and Porto Tech Center in sunny Porto, Portugal, as well as NewStore in Berlin, Germany.
People talk…
My former colleague who currently works in Meta told me that my quick filters solution created for Farfetch mobile app was discussed in their offices as a great example of how to approach filtering on product listing pages 🙌
Values I’m Following
Humans, not users.
It’s important to see each unique person, not a crowd of users. Explain the context of their situation, take time to empathise and figure out what they’re trying to achieve.
Always learning.
Challenging and improving myself and others is important to keep growing.
Moments, not things.
I want to enable people to have confidence to be their best self, and provide clarity for their journey. Technology needs to be effortless to create engaging and positively surprising experiences.
Humbleness and respect.
Treat others as you want to be treated. We’re all humans and, in the core, share the same wants and needs.

Sometimes, I make jewelry
Outside of work, I enjoy DIY projects at home and making jewelry. It allows me to create something functional but beautiful at the same time - similar to interfaces!
